Hollywood Walk of Fame Cookies

Less then a week to go until Oscar Sunday!   It's one of my favorite occasions.  So how about some movie themed cookies?

My Hollywood Walk of Fame cookies are modeled off of the famous stars that line 15 blocks of Hollywood Blvd (and 3 blocks of Vine Street).   These stars come in five formats... music, television, broadcast radio, theater, and film, but they represent actors, directors, producers, musicians,   It is a huge honor for any celebrity to get chosen for a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star. Each year, an average of 200 nominations are submitted to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Walk of Fame Selection Committee.  At a meeting each June, the committee selects approximately 20 celebrities to receive stars on the Walk of Fame during the following year. One posthumous award is given each year as well.  If you haven't seen a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star in person, here is an example.  The film version as seen here is adorned with an old fashioned movie camera and the stars name.

To make the cookies I started with my favorite Roll Out Cookie Recipe and my star shaped cookie cutter.   Once the cookies were baked and cooled I made royal icing and lined each star with yellow icing and created a yellow circle in the center of each star.  I put aside more of the yellow icing for the cameras.  I then thinned the royal icing and tinted it pink and a little black.   I filled the cookies in with the pink and black. Then using a thin round tip I piped small cameras onto the center circle.  I believe I needed to use a #1 tip to get the details of the camera on to be small enough on the cookie.

Since I have letter cookie cutters I also decided to make the Hollywood Sign out of cookies.  I lined each cookies with green royal icing and then filled it in with White Icing.  Then the middle of the Os and the D I used the grass tip to fill it in and make it look like grass.
