Kissed by a Vampire

Vampire Kiss Martini
Vodka, Champagne and Chambord
Garnished with Red Syrup

If you want a creepy concoction that is both tasty and fun, how about a Vampire Kiss Martini?

First you need the red "blood" syrup.   Mix corn syrup with liquid red food coloring and mix well, making sure the corn syrup is completely red.   Put the blood mixture in a wide bowl, wide enough to fit the rim of your martini glasses.  (We bought plastic disposable martini glasses for our Halloween party, making clean up easy. Available at Party City.)   Use another wide bowl and pour in red sugar.

Before making the drink dip the rim of the martini glass into the corn syrup blood and then into the red sugar.  When you flip the glass back over the "blood" should begin dripping down the side of the glass.  The down side of this is that it is a bit messy to drink and make sure your guests have coasters.  But the look is great, as the glass has the appearance of blood.

Now for the drink... the Chambord (which is raspberry liquor) tints the liquid red, increasing the look of blood.  The champagne gives it a fun fizzy taste and is the reason its labeled a "kiss."

Here is the recipe:

1 1/2 oz. Vodka, 2 1/2 oz. Korbel Champagne, 3/4 oz. Chambord

1)    Rim Martini Glass in Red Corn Syrup & Red Sugar
2)    Pour vodka and half Chambord in martini glass.  Top with champagne.
3)    Pour remaining vodka over back of a spoon to make it float.
