Rainy Day Scrap Booking

If your house is bunkered down for Hurricane Irene and you now have nothing to do, it's a good day to catch up on some scrap booking.  Here are some pages I did and the inspiration behind them.  I hope they inspire you.

1) Mohegan Sun Fun -
This page represents what was essentially Jason and my first date for round 2 of our relationship.  It was a party at Mohegan Sun with Surfside 3 Marina.  Obviously the inspiration for this page was the casino and I found the perfect embellishments for the casino theme.  For this page I used black, red and blue paper, the casino embellishment kit and my pictures.   To do the title I traced the Mohegan Sun logo font onto light blue paper and cut it out.  I chose light blue because the party was part of our boat rendezvous that year and I felt it played on the water theme, especially given the picture in the left corner.

2) 100 Nights Party - This page was from our 100 Nights Dance in college.   The inspiration for this page was the black paper with silver stars printed on it, which reminded me of the sparkly black dress I wore that night.  I used most of the pictures in a collage style and centered on the photo of Jason and I which I laminated on silver glitter paper.   The stars were from an embellishment kit I purchased and I bought the sparkle words Party.   Using a silver Paint Pen I wrote a description for the picture of Jason carrying me home by piggyback in the bottom left corner (which was because my shoes were KILLING me).

3) Birthday Balloons - I got the inspiration for this page when I found the balloon paper which matched the balloon wrapping paper I had used on Jason's gift.  I cut the two photos into ovals and placed them on balloon backdrops.  But so they didn't seem out of place next to the balloons in the backdrop, I cut several balloons out of primary colors to match the size and shape of the ones behind the picture.   Then I finished the page with the balloon Happy Birthday stickers at the bottom and the writing on top

4) Walking Through College Together - this page was part of the Jason/Michelle scrap book I made for our engagement party and was a place to display some random college pictures that had no other home.   My mom had given me a paper punch that makes small feet and somehow when I was looking at the punch it occurred to me that "Walking through College Together" was the perfect theme for the page.

5) The Phantom of the Opera - no explanation needed as to the inspiration behind this page.  Obviously it was The Phantom.   I printed the Phantom logo, rose and mask onto photo paper which I then cut out and glued onto black scrap book paper.   The problem then became the tickets.  I am not a big believer of adding anything to a book that is not acid free, it could end up ruining your photographs.  But I wanted to capture the night and I had no pictures from it, so the tickets were the best way.   So I decided to laminate them with acid free laminate.   This way at least there is another layer of protection around the tickets.

6) NYC Romantic Weekend - Since this page went hand in hand with the Phantom page (it was from the same weekend) my inspiration for the page was the Phantom of the Opera, so I decided to play off the black and the red color scheme, tying it also into romance.  I made a square for each big thing we did that weekend, even Serendipity 3 (which I didn't have a picture from).  Then I embellished it with Love stickers.

GOOD LUCK AS YOU FACE HURRICANE IRENE!  IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE LIKE ME THEN HAPPY SCRAP-BOOKING!
