Modeled off the pop-up invitation Jeanette mailed out, the cake looked like a pop up card itself. The two tiers resembled the gift boxes found on the pop up card and all the appliances were replicas of the appliances on the invites. She even recreated the flat appearance of the appliances, so they were exact replicas of those found on the invite. The cake was as delicious as it was pretty. The top tier was almond and vanilla and the bottom tier traditional red velvet. Both tiers were covered in a delicious marshmallow fondant, and I usually hate fondant.
But my absolute favorite part of the cake were the dogs. When my brother-in-law proposed to Jen, he put his Dachshunds Lola and Elmer in a tuxedo and wedding dress. Jen walked in to the house after work and found them dressed up. Jeanette had the dogs in their wedding clothes replicated on her shower cake. I wouldn't be surprised if Jen saved them for the wedding cake.
I will update this blog if and when I can find out the name of the bakery that created this masterpiece.
