April Showers

It's April, so here is a Blog Post for April Showers....

(although this shower happened to be in June.)

Here is a fun way to decorate for a Bridal Shower or Baby Shower... with umbrellas.

I can't take credit for this, it was done at my Bridal Shower by my mom and my girlfriends... with my creative mother taking the reigns.

It's simple really.  She sent away for plain white parasols.  They are paper so they weren't very expensive.   I'm guessing she ordered them from Oriental Trading.  DIY Parasols - Oriental Trading  There are a number of websites that sell paper parasol umbrellas in white or other colors.   With the white you could also paint them.   Oriental Trader suggests using waterproof paint to create designs on their DIY Parasols.

Now you could probably buy the parasols in colors too, if your color scheme is going to be more vibrant and I am sure it would be beautiful.  But as my wedding was pink and turquoise, my mom kept the umbrellas white and then tied pink and turquoise strings to the inside of them, so that it hung down like colorful rain from the ceiling.  Some umbrellas she did just turquoise, others just pink and others a combo of the two colors.

Added to the balloons, her DIY centerpieces, and the pink and turquoise butterflies she purchased at Christmas Tree shop she was able to transform the clubhouse of the Bayberry Beach and Tennis Club into a beautiful shower, fairly inexpensively.

Did the parasols hold up much past the party, no, they started to rip even as we took them down.  But they looked beautiful during the event.

They also create super cute photographs....
